Why Traditional Manifestation Sometimes Doesn’t Work

1. Start with Somatic Awareness

Your body holds your beliefs. Instead of suppressing uncomfortable emotions and choosing toxic positivity, take time to tune into your body.

Ask yourself:

  • Where do I feel this resistance?
  • What is my body trying to protect me from?
  • Can I hold space for this feeling without judgment?

Manifestation begins with feeling safe in your body.

Try body scans, intuitive movement, or breathwork before your manifestation rituals to create a grounded foundation.

Let yourself sit with your emotions. And remember: It is okay to not be okay.

2. Regulate Your Nervous System

A dysregulated nervous system perceives abundance, love, and success as threats.

Holistic psychology emphasizes the importance of co-regulation and self-regulation through:

Deep belly breathing
Cold exposure or movement
Emotional release exercises (like shaking or EFT tapping)
Safe, healthy connection with others or a mental health professional

The more regulated your nervous system, the more receptive you are to receiving.

3. Reparent Your Inner Child

Your subconscious mind is shaped in childhood. If you grew up believing you had to earn love or be perfect to be safe, those beliefs are likely still at the forefront of every decision you make.

Affirmations can’t stick if your subconscious doesn’t believe them.

Holistic tools help you to meet these younger parts of yourself with compassion and rewrite the narrative. Some of my favorite holistic tools are inner child journaling, visualization, and voice dialoging.

Shift from generic affirmations to ones that are trauma-informed and believable to your subconscious. The affirmations you use should be grounded in body-based safety.

For example:

Instead of…

I am rich.

Try saying…

It’s safe to receive more than enough.

And Instead of…

I am always confident.

Try saying…

I am learning to trust myself gently.

5. Integrate Shadow Work

Shadow work is the process of integrating the parts of yourself that you have rejected. These parts often hold the keys to your manifestations.

Ask yourself:

What am I afraid will happen if I get what I want?
What part of me believes I don’t deserve it?
Where am I still holding shame?

Bringing light to your shadow dissolves resistance, thus creating space for expansion.

Ritual: Holistic Manifestation Alignment Practice

  5. Visualize your desired reality while feeling safe and grounded in your body (5 min)
