One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn is that anxiety isn’t always a sign that something is wrong. More often than not, it’s my brain trying to protect me from uncertainty.
The funny thing is, some of the biggest blessings in my life showed up when I had absolutely no idea they were coming. Looking back, I can see that every chapter eventually worked out, even when I couldn’t understand it in the moment.
Now, whenever I catch myself trying to control every little detail, I pause and ask myself:
What if things are actually unfolding better than I could imagine?
That simple question changes everything.
One practice that helps me shift out of anxiety is writing down all of my worries in a journal before bed. Once they’re on paper, they stop taking up so much space in my mind. I’ve been loving using a beautiful guided manifestation journal because it makes the whole ritual feel intentional instead of stressful and takes off so much pressure.
I’ve also realized that my environment has a huge impact on my nervous system. If my room feels cluttered or chaotic, my mind usually does too. Creating a cozy space with warm lighting, soft blankets, and calming décor has genuinely helped me feel more grounded.
Another thing that has made a noticeable difference is supporting my body, not just my mindset. I notice my anxiety is sometimes amplified when I’m exhausted or depleted, so I try to prioritize quality sleep, hydration, and good nutrition. One supplement I always recommend looking into is California Gold Nutrition Magnesium Bisglycinate from iHerb (use CODE FUNSUMMER for a discount!) because magnesium supports healthy muscle and nervous system function and many people don’t get enough of it through diet alone.
When I start overthinking, I also try to move my body instead of sitting with anxious thoughts. Sometimes that’s simply going for a walk, and other times it’s somatic therapy. I love putting on music and playing with my ForeverFloww Flow Star for a few minutes (Pro tip: Use KIND111 for a discount!). There’s something super calming about getting into that flow state where you’re focused on movement instead of worrying about the future.
I’ve noticed that anxiety gets quieter whenever I have something exciting to look forward to. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge vacation. Even planning a weekend getaway or a day trip or going to a concert downtown gives my brain something positive to anticipate. One of my favorite ways to find affordable hotels and flights is through Expedia because it makes spontaneous little adventures much more doable (and less stressful).
One of my favorite reminders is this:
You don’t have to know how everything is going to work out. You only have to trust yourself enough to take the next step.
Life has surprised me too many times for me to believe that uncertainty is something to fear. In fact, uncertainty is where new friendships begin, dream jobs appear, unexpected opportunities arrive, money flows in, and manifestations become reality.
So today, instead of asking:
What if everything goes wrong?
Try asking,
What if everything works out even better than I planned?
You might be surprised how much lighter that question makes you feel.
